Enough with "jailbroken", please. Our iPhones and iPod Touches are not incarcerated felons, they are slaves in bondage. My iPod is not "jailbroken", it is LIBERATED!
Our iPhones and Touches are sold to us in Apple's virtual chains and we liberate them from those chains when we run the freeing programs (chain cutters -- not jailbreakers) that get us get through to the inner iPhone. We emancipate them from bondage to Apple and Apple's idea of what they are allowed to do and how we should be allowed to use them.
Liberated. Not "jailbroke".
"Jailbroken" isn't even a real word. It sounds like maybe your iPhone is being paper trained not to piddle on the floor. It comes off as silly and childish, demeaning and inaccurate and carrying an odor of surreptitiousness and illegality. The iPhone is brilliant technology and fun. It is not a felon and it does not make pee pee.
The sense of "liberated" also sends a stronger, clearer message to the bondage-mongering leaders of Apple.
And an added bonus: because liberate is a real word with real related parts of speech we no longer have to say stupid things like "jailbreaked", "jailbroken" and "I need to jailbreak...". (Down the hall and to the right.) Now we get to use real words like: "liberation", "liberate", "liberated", "liberating" and "no suh, massa Jobs, not no mo'".
This is the word we want for our iPhones and iPod Touch's. They have not been "broken out"; they have been set free. We have loosed the shackles of Apple's arrogant and paranoid bondage.
iPhones are not jailbroken or even housebroken; they are LIBERATED!
