Sometimes a dark and not-too-busy wallpaper is good to have. But you still want something subtle in there, with just enough interest to keep the brain sparking.

This one works that way. It's pretty dark. For the most part it stays out of the way -- visually speaking. But here and there are little points of light to catch a wandering eye.

Another lovely image from RGPepper's series from Prospect Park in NYC makes a great wallpaper for your iPhone, gPhone, iPod Touch or other favorite handheld.

I can't remember where I "found" it, but it's great 'PodPaper. I'm pretty sure that this one s from RGPepper's series in Prospect Park but haven't been able to confirm it .

It some elegant fungus. A touch busy under a bunch of icons, but it's so earthy and energetic and just a little weird that it's just swell to have for wallpaper on your handheld. Even if just once in awhile.

Another one of my favorites. also happens to be one of the first I grabbed with a phone camera. (LG VX8300. Very nice little phone cam.)

Blah, blah. Forgive my mention of equipment. It ain't the equipment that matters but it is the image.

This one is pretty nice, per se, but it really shines in the handheld presentation. The graphic nature makes a cooling presence on the handheld screen while the steadiness of the lines works OK and doesn't get too busy under a bunch of icons. The twig on the bottom... nature harmoniously asserting itself into the frame.

Autumn tree wallpaper for your handheld or iPhone

Season schmeason.

You can save this one for autumn if you want but, for me, these soft fireworks work as a nice brain cleanser any time of year.

Seeing this sparkling display as wallpaper always instantly creates a little riddle posed to human nature by Mother Nature; how did this tree get so pretty? And why? (And why am I asking?)

It only takes a second or less to flash that thought and then a sort of calm flush of realizing that there's no riddle; it just exists. Nice.

Happily, the riddle pops to mind again every time. Each time -- again quite happily -- in that little instant the whole circuitry of my brain feels reset and realigned.

Thanks tree. This one is always in my 'podpaper stash.

This tree lives on an embankment at the Brewster North (a.k.a. Southeast), NY train station. It braves the trains and the artificial weather and the strange chemistry of the rail cut and comes out with a treat like this every year. If you want to see it like this in person, visit the east platform around the middle of October.

'PodPaper #12: Fence Rails Motion

This is one of my favorites. It works well on the iPod vertically oriented screen and even better on smart phone type devices with horizontally arranged setups. On the iPhone type screen you can slide it back and forth to change the mood a bit.

This one was captured with a phone camera looking out at a passing rail fence. The slow processing time of the digital "shutter" gives a sweet cubist stretch to the motion.

It's a great fit and this image by Ann D. Pepper is a swell change of 'PodPaper pace.

Gray pattern_a.pp.jpg A "found" pattern: the happy alignment of the sun, a car window to reflect it, a set of window blinds, and a white wall.

There are a few of these that make very pleasing wallpaper (ImHO). I'll put them all up eventually.

This is a portion of an image in RGP's series in Prospect Park, NYC.

The strength in the structure of this tree makes a calming and visually reassuring 'podpaper.

The entire tree as captured by RGP is nearly iconic of graceful ent power. The original image is a beautiful painting-like photograph well worth the click to go see it.

Yet another beautiful shot by RGPepper that happens to work perfectly as wall paper for handheld devices. (My iPod Touch in particular ;-)

I like this one for 'PodPaper very much. So restful and meditative and hopeful. It's quite refreshing to see there in the background of everything else.
