Tonight at 8pm eastern on "Dangerous Encounters: Jurassic Shark", Dr. Brady Barr searches for one of the largest and most ancient sea creatures, the sixgill shark. The goal is to learn more about where the 16 foot, 12,000 lb. giants live, migrate and how they behave since they currently have very little information. Oh, and also find out why they have 6 gills instead of the usual 5.
The search takes place in Central America, 1,700 feet under water in a homemade submarine. Yep...homemade and apparently very attractive to the sharks as they come straight to the sub, even trying to take a nip out of it.
Following that, Brady heads to the Seattle Aquarium where he is able to scuba dive with the sharks himself and later, to Hawaii where he joins biologist Dr. Dean Grubbs to discuss what they know about these amazing creatures.
The new episode airs tonight at 8pm eastern on National Geographic Channel. This kicks off 4 new episodes airing every Saturday in January. Look out for next weeks new episode, "Dangerous Encounters: Croc Crisis"!
