'PodPaper #1: Stormy Weather

StormyWeather.jpgIf you use an iPod Touch or iPhone or G-phone other such handheld or mobile gizmo then you know that the "right" wallpaper can add a nice touch to your day.

It works that way for a lot of folks -- or so I judge by the amount of effort put into themes and skins that are out there on the 'net.

For me, a quiet landscape is preferred to a graphically over-loaded movie poster. Wallpaper does have work to do, after all.

For starters, ImHO, a good wallpaper has to work on its own as an image.  But as well as pleasing on its own, a successful wallpaper also has to let the icons do their job -- to float over the wallpaper without being jarring or confused with the wallpaper.

The wallpapers here will made from my own photos or with images found on the web in photog hangouts like Flickr.com.

The first selection for the series of "'PodPapers" is this dramatic skyscape by RGPepper (RGP at Flickr.com) called "Stormy Weather".  The textures of the sky are so dense and rich that it seems quite painterly. Indeed, the composition is so nearly perfect that it's almost a surpise that the photographer captured it in the camera just as you see it. Until you see the rest of her work at Flickr, that is. It's apparent that she the patience and the eye to get the good shot. With pleasure -- and the photographer's kind permission -- you'll frequently find RGP's photos in the 'PodPaper series.

If you have a photo or photos that you'd like to have considered for inclusion here, post it on Flickr.com and tag it with "PodPaper". I'll search for that tag on Flickr and take that as your permission to use your photo here.

And, whether you post photos on Flickr.com or not, I hope you'll find some 'PodPapers here that you like.
