Cuisinart Brew Central

Cuisinart Brew Central Coffeemaker makes wonderful coffee & looks great too!If you love your coffee, this is the coffeemaker for you.

The Cuisinart® Brew Central Coffeemaker is an evolutionary step in coffeemakers. This one looks terrific and makes fantastic coffee but it also does at least two new things that instantly seem like all other coffeemakers should learn to do them.

Visually the Cuisinart Brew Central makes a tech-industrial statement with a monolithic brushed stainless steel finish. The design murmurs "elegant efficiency" and will fit well in any kitchen. It seems large but is actually not larger than a typical 12-cup brewer and may actually be more compact than some. It is very easy to keep clean but is also cleverly designed to minimize or eliminate the unsightly staining that always appears when coffee and plastics come together. (The matte-black and stainless/black color combos are especially so.)

Cuisinart Brew Central Coffeemaker lets you control brew time, brew strength & temperature of both the brew and the hotplate. Perfect! The Cuisinart Brew Central is programmable from start to finish. And we're not just talking about what time you want it to brew your java; no, no. This machine will let you set the temperature that your coffee should be brewed and the temperature for the variable heater plate and how long the heater plate should stay on. You can even program a slower brew cycle for those times when you want to brew a "short pot" of just a few cups.

This coffee machine even tells you when it's time to decalcify! That's one of the two new evolutionary tricks that it does. Not only that, but it has a self-cleaning cycle built into it's programming. Fantastic!

Here's how it works: the Cuisinart Brew Central monitors itself for temperature and time to brew a pot of coffee. When it starts to go off the correct parameters then it will start to flash a little red LED clearly labeled "Clean". Excellent. Going too long between cleanings can ruin an otherwise good coffeemaker, so it's great to have this smart indicator.

When the "Clean" indicator lights you use the built-in self-cleaning cycle to run through some vinegar and water (simple steps in the easy-to-read user booklet). Once clean cycle, one rinse and all done! The clean cycle automatically goes through a couple of little pauses -- presumably to let the vinegar and water have time to work on the calcium deposits. The heater plate doesn't stay on after a self-cleaning cycle -- a nice touch that just makes sense. The point is; the self-cleaning cycle is a great idea that works and it's great to have.

Until now, we probably wouldn't have thought to spend more than $20-30 for a coffeemaker. But this machine makes the case for spending a little more cash to get much more service and a wonderful cup of coffee. It actually isn't that expensive; usually around $70-80. The Cuisinart® Brew Central Coffeemaker comes in three color styles: black & stainless, all matte-black or white & stainless. In any color, this is a great coffeemaker.
